How do I opt-in to SMS messages from Shield
If a cell phone is not receiving SMS messages from Shield, it’s possible that the phone number has ‘opted out’ of these messages at some point. The following are the steps to opt that number back in:
1. Check the personnel database to verify that the SMS Opt-Out column reads "In" and that the phone number entered is correct.
2. Send an SMS message from Shield to the number to verify that it is receiving messages. (learn more here:

3. If the message was not received,
contact us to request that the number be investigated to determine if it has been "opted out" of SMS messages.
4. If the number has indeed been opted out, text the word START from the "opted out" number to 67076.
5. Send an SMS message from Shield to the number to verify if that it is receiving messages.
